CATEGORIES, DANCES and MUSIC
 

 

 

The competition will this year consist of the following categories:

Same-sex competition:

Men's standard
Women's latin
Women's standard
Men's latin


Mixed competition: Standard and latin


Showdance: Couples and groups have no gender restrictions.

It will be possible to participate in all categories,
but please note that time for making costume changes is perhaps going to be scarce.




Standard dances:
waltz, tango, Viennese waltz, slowfox, and quickstep.

Tempi for the dances shall be approximately bars per minute:
waltz: 28-30, tango: 31-33, Viennese waltz: 58-60, slowfox: 28-30, quickstep: 50-52


Latin American dances:
samba, cha-cha, rumba, pasodoble and jive.

Tempi for the dances shall be approximately bars per minute:
samba: 50-52, cha-cha: 30-32, rumba: 25-27, pasodoble: 60-62, jive: 40-44.

In all competition rounds the music played will be of approximately 1.45 minutes duration for all dances except for the Viennese waltz and the jive, which will be approximately 1.15 minutes.

In the preliminary rounds the pasodoble will be danced to the second highlight, in the finals it will be danced to the third.
